Good news and better news...

Well, many of you have waited with baited breath (as we have) for a couple test results from last week, and how week three began; here goes:

Good News
Well, many of you know that I had a normal CBC / blood test last week which told us that my platelets were low and that if counts did not improve by today we might be looking at a delayed or reduced Chemo today or blood transfusion. Good News 1 : Platelets were back up so Chemo proceeded as scheduled!

Better news
Even better news awaited us during our pre-chemo visit with the DR. He gave us our results from last week's CT scan which was to compare from the initial diagnosis in December. Good News 2: All cancer growth seems to be slowed or stopped! Best News? : The cancer 'spots' on my liver appeared to be reduced in size, up to 10% in some cases.

I can only be excited at this progress and thank everyone so far for their prayers, thoughts, hopes and skills (Dr & Nurses...). I am very hopeful that after 2 more Chemo cycles we will have another CT scan and see similar or even better results!

Yep, sometime in late March we'll schedule another CT and compare again to see how we're progressing after 4 cycles; great news to have another 'checkpoint' planned!

Chemotherapy Cycle Three
Chemo cycle 3, week 1 started with nervousness and some nausea this morning; I was apprehensive about the above results. Other than that, normal 4 hour visit to the oncologist for Chemo Cycle 3 day 1. I felt a little more nauseous after dinner and also didn't come home and sleep, I stayed up until ~ 10 pm, took a quick nap on the couch (those of you who saw Mackenzie during late service witnessed this position ), then I woke up and wrote this post!

Please keep the thoughts and prayers coming for Cycle three and beyond, we now have proof positive that prayers work and do help!

Last thing, Our church is having a healing service this week Feb. 25th at 2pm for me and anyone else who would like to be anointed with oil and a hands-on prayer (Pastor and family 'lay hands' on person, optional congregation comes forward to add hands and offer support during prayer). I will update this site with our church web address and street location for those outside my church family who would like to attend. Not tonight, sometime tomorrow

Thanks again for your continued prayers, thoughts and hope!

Gavin & Family.

Once again we are reminded...

"I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?

My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;"
- Psalm 121:1-3

Praise the Lord for good news. Now continuing to pray that your side effects will stay minimal while the chemo effects on the cancer will be maximized!
