I want to begin by saying that I am not going to promise to post more often anymore since I have come to the conclusion that it is a promise that I can't keep! Someone gave me a very good rationale for the lack of posts...no news is good news.
As far as Gavin's medical condition goes, there really has been no change. He is still getting the maintenance chemo of VP16 3 times every 3 weeks. His counts have been good and while he sometimes gets tired, it is not overwhelming. The only change has been the addition of potassium pills to his daily regimen. After the next round, Dr. Pal will be ordering another scan to check how things are going. I'm not positive if this will be a PET scan or just a CT scan. O.k., quick comment...it's amazing how attitudes can change in a year. Last year at this time, a scheduled CT scan was a considerably anxiety producing event. Now I am referring to it as "just a CT scan"!
As most of you know, we have been super busy over the past few months, mainly with Mackenzie's extracurricular activities. She auditioned and got cast in "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" at Matthews Playhouse. After about 7 weeks of rehearsal she participated in 10 shows total, sometimes 2 shows a day! She really loved being on stage and definitely wants to continue her musical theater career. We were also busy with Drew and Ardrey Kell's production of "Grease".
Now most of the fine arts stuff is done (until probably May) and we have moved on to sports season. Mackenzie is playing U10 girls soccer, Austin is playing major level baseball, and Drew will be playing Babe Ruth rec ball. I'm not sure if we would know what to with ourselves if we weren't running kids all over the place!
The most exciting thing on our horizon now is the upcoming trip to Disney World. We leave on Thursday, April 3rd and we will spend 5 days hopping around the parks. Drew will be there the first few days on a choral trip and we will meet up with him Sunday night so he can spend the last few days hanging with us. Gavin's mom, brother, and our niece will be joining us. My dad is staying at the house and taking care of the menagerie. I might try and post like I did when we went to Arizona. It really just depends on how exhausted I am when we get back to the hotel at night.
We would like to thank the Diane Kindlick for Cameron's favorite casserole, Robin Furr for the spaghetti dinner, Norma and Jimmie for the chili, Gail Lewyn for the bbq, and Pauline Muntz for all of the goodies. Thanks also goes out to everyone's continued prayers and support.
I wanted to add this last bit as a seperate box on the blog but I can't figure out how to do that so this will have to do for now. I'll get my resident computer expert to figure it out for me later!
Prayer requests: Natalie Yokeley
Kelly Braxton
Ann Lynne
Kim Whisenant
Cindy Flanigan
(All of the above are battling some form of cancer)
Please keep these wonderful people and their families in your prayers. If you want me to add anything or anyone to the list please just email me.
Love and blessings to all!
Maria
