Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD They will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:28-31, NIV
I ran across this on a caringbridge site (thanks Lisa!) and wanted to share some of my favorite verses in the Bible with everyone.
Gavin's oral surgery went very well. He is still a little numb so I'm sure he will be dealing with more soreness tomorrow. Pray that he can get a restful nights sleep.
Drew started at Chik-Fil-A recently and this week has been his first real work week (outside of watching training videos). It will be nice to not be the ATM all of the time anymore! He spent last week at his Greensboro music camp and had the best time like always. A special thanks to all of the St. Andrew's members who drove up to University City UMC to watch him and his choir sing last Friday night. I know it really means a lot to him to have your support. He is very excited that St. Andrew's will be hosting the choir next year.
All 3 kids are helping at music camp this week at church. Austin is helping with tech, Drew is assistant directing, and Mackenzie is in the musical. I've heard some of the music and it promises to be a very entertaining show. If you want something to do Friday night plan on heading up to church and watching some wonderfully talented kids.
I just realized I haven't shared the most recent Gavin mishap story. It's definitely worth sharing. You remember about 2 weeks ago he finally got his cast off after breaking his wrist falling off of a ladder 6 weeks prior. Well...they removed the cast on a Thursday. On Saturday Drew had a baseball game. While trying to catch a foul ball that popped out of the field, Gavin lost his balance and fell on both knees. A little dirty but no damage. Later on during the game, he was running around playing a little game of chase with Mackenzie. He lost his footing somehow and completely wiped out! Thankfully he did not re-break his wrist (btw, doc said to take it easy on activities for a week - that did not happen) but he was pretty sore. I'm thinking his pride was probably just as sore! Later that day his side was hurting him pretty badly. We decided since he was going to Toronto on business Monday that he should prob. go for an x-ray in case he broke a rib. He definitely didn't want to have to visit an ER out of the country if he could help it. Once again, thankfully nothing broken, just some pulled muscles. Fast forward a week (he made it through the Toronto trip unscathed). As I have mentioned, we are doing some remodeling. In our soon to be game room, Gavin was preparing to finish installing some track lighting. I no sooner go upstairs when I hear a loud buzzing sound and an equally loud grunt. Hoping against all hope that it wasn't what I thought it was, I dashed downstairs. Happily I see Gavin still standing...still alive! Just some blackened fingers that will have blisters on them later. So here's a lesson to all you amateur do-it-yourselfers...if you are doing electrical work - turn off the power at the breaker box! His doc took the glass half-full approach to the synopsis of Gavin's mishaps "at least he feels well enough to be doing things."
Concluding this long and extensive blog, please pray for health, peace, and an accident free week!
Love,
Maria
