Wednesday, Sept. 10

Gavin is doing o.k. today. He had his first radiation treatment around 1 p.m. They are expecting minimal side effects from this. We also spoke with the palliative pain specialist. It was determined to keep him on the PCA (pump) until tomorrow at least. They increased his long lasting pain meds. Depending on how that switch goes, he might be taken off of the PCA tomorrow and given an oral break thru pain med instead. If that goes well he might be on target to go home on Friday. Of course there are a lot of "ifs" involved but it would be great to be home for the weekend. The most important thing is for Gavin's pain to be managed at home and not just at the hospital.

Thanks to the Heck family for dinner and the coupons. They will definitely come in handy! Hmmm, wonder whose store I might use those at?? Thanks to Anne for helping with all of the kids. Thanks to Suzette for being errand girl tonight. Thanks to Jennifer :0)

Thanks for the phone calls and messages and offers of help. They are greatly appreciated.

If we don't come home on Friday, I will be needing some place for Mackenzie and Austin to go Friday night. I would like to give my dad a break if possible. We can address that issue later if it comes up.

Love and blessings!
Maria
