First a big thank you to everyone for their thoughts and prayers while we were in Texas! Your continued love and support touches us beyond words.
I know a few of you have already asked how Texas was and I just very briefly said it went well. Sorry if I didn't elaborate but I didn't want to repeat the details over and over and over and over and over...
While we were scheduled to be there a week, we actually only needed one day! Gavin had blood drawn on Thurs. and we met with the doctor and that was it. It was a good meeting though. She supported what Dr. Pal has been doing and also had a few different ideas for some anti-nausea meds since Gavin has felt more nauseaus this time around. His white counts also were a little low so they gave him a booster shot to help raise them up. She also had an idea for a diff. med to use during the down time but we'll have to see about that one. Dr. Pal and the new doc are working together to create the best treatment for Gavin. While not much new from MD Anderson, it is nice to have another set of expert eyes on Gavin's condition for future needs.
Since we only needed a day for doctors, Gavin and I had 3 days to "vacation" in Houston! We had a great time visiting the LBJ Space Center, the Aquarium, and the Texas Renaissance Festival. While it wasn't quite our first choice getaway locale, it was nice to have some alone time.
Gavin started another round of chemo today and he will have another CT before the next round. At the moment, the doc is hoping he can get through 4 rounds at least before the drugs get too toxic for him to handle. Not sure of what's after that.
Misc. news:
My dad has arrived and has started to settle in. Of course we didn't
give him much time since we ditched the kids on him right away!
Mackenzie is officially 9 years old going on 19! She had a great
birthday and is looking forward to going to High School Musical on
Ice tomorrow.
It is Children's Sabbath at church on Sunday. I can't wait to hear all of
the kids sing, see them dance, and hear them ring those bells!
We did see something strange in Houston...rain! Couldn't figure out
how to get it through airport security to bring it back with us!
I was going to promise to post again soon but I decided I shouldn't make a promise I probably won't keep! Take care!
Love,
Maria
