A pretty uneventful chemo day. Labs were good so chemo went ahead as planned. Gavin has felt a bit nauseated the past few days off and on and little more fatigued but other then that, things are going pretty well. Next week he sees Dr. Sharma, oral surgeon extraordinaire, on Monday and has chemo on Thursday along with a visit with Dr. Pal beforehand. At this juncture we aren't expecting any mind-blowing revelations at either doctor visit. I am knocking on wood right now so I haven't jinxed us!
On Monday, Gavin and I will be celebrating 13 years of marriage. When we wed all those years ago, we were so young and naive. We never would have dreamed that we would uproot the family from Toledo to Charlotte where we knew no one. During those first 2 years here we had no conceptualization that we would settle in here and call this home and just "visit" Toledo, that we would find a family of friends here to love and to love us. We had no idea that we would have our own Goliath to battle, that cancer would become way to upclose and personal.
Through adversity, blessings come unfailingly. Each and every one of you is a blessing to us, each of you is that stone in our bag capable of felling the giant. Your faith strengthens us when our faith is weak, your love envelops us when we feel down, your presence lifts us when it all seems so much to bear.
13 years. I think the one thing Gavin and I have figured out is that we don't need the official date of our anniversary to honor our marriage. His battle with cancer has impressed upon us the importance to treasure each other daily. Do we always succeed? Nope! We still snip at each other, we still get frustrated with each other. I have to believe we do it less often though then we would have previously. Time is precious and not to be wasted on petty things.
If I can figure it out, I will try to scan a wedding picture and put it on the site. Perhaps I will boot that project over to Gavin since he leaves all the blogging to me and he is the techie (i.e. geek)!
Wow, I have been all over the place today. Sorry if I rambled but hopefully I've made some sense. Thanks to the Lewyn Family, Pridgeon Family, and Harris Family for the yummy dinners this week.
Thanks to everyone for being a blessing to me and Gavin and to the kids. We could never go through this without faith in the Lord and friends like you!
Love,
Maria
