It was a busy day for us. First we took Mackenzie lunch at school to celebrate her birthday. Next it was off to a doctors visit and chemo. Then we had a delicious dinner at Red Robin, also to celebrate her birthday. Lastly, it was out to Matthews for Mackenzie's drama class. It really has been a non-stop day for me.
Gavin received his 3rd round of chemo in 3 weeks today. He has experienced no major side effects, just a little bit of nausea and fatigue now and then. So far no hair on the pillow! Definitely praying that this chemo either slows the tumor growth down, stabilizes it, or best of all will reduce the size of the tumors. I believe that Gavin will have another 3 week course of treatment before any scans are done. The bonus is that we have no scheduled doctor visits with anyone next week! A complete week off from everything. What will we do with ourselves???
After a busy day, we have a weekend that is just as busy. Gavin's brother Grant, his daughter, Alexis, and girlfriend, Kristen are visiting with us for a few days. Also there is another work day planned at the house for Saturday. There is a wonderful ladies event at church tomorrow night that I'll be attending. I can't wait to chit chat with everyone and listen to Laurie. Saturday is also the day of the big birthday party. Mackenzie and some of her friends will be ice skating at the Pineville Icehouse for a few hours. I will be attempting to skate and trying to video at the same time. Of course on Sunday there is church and a myriad of activities to take part in there.
I guess the answer to the question "what will we do with ourselves next week?" is sleeping!
Thanks to the Wallace and Brown family for dinners this week. It definitely helps to not have to worry about cooking some nights.
Prayer list: Safe travels for Grant, Alexis, and Kristen
For everyone to stay safe while working on house (they will be painting up high)
For all rest to be refreshing and sustaining
For chemo to be working it's wonders in Gavin
For Natalie (and family), Kim Whisenant (and family), Kelly Braxton (and family)
Cindy Flanigan (and family) - all are battling cancer
Praise that God has given us a wonderful, delightful, and charming little girl named Mackenzie.
Love and Blessings,
Maria
