Yes! We are finally home! It took forever for Gavin to be discharged today. Oncology doc didn't show up until close 'til lunch and pain doc never came! Around 3 p.m. the nurse finally checked with them and it was decided that they didn't need to visit to let him go home.
We are hopeful that the next 26 hours, until we visit pain doc, will go smoothly. Sunday will give us a better look to see if the pain meds are really working while Gavin is out and about a bit instead of sitting in a hospital bed. We have decided to skip church in the morning and grab a bit more sleep!
Gavin has his last 2 radiation appointments on Monday and Tuesday at 9:30. Directly after radiation on Monday, we go to palliative pain clinic for a follow-up with them. On Wednesday we head to Dr. Sharma's finally for, hopefully, the final office visit with the awesomest oral surgeon around. On Thursday, we head back to Dr. Pal. At the moment the plan is to start some sort of chemo on Thursday as long as Gavin's counts are good. Dr. Pal told us yesterday that he is just waiting on insurance approval. Needless to say, we have a full week of doctor visits.
Gavin and I are overjoyed to be home. He seems to be doing well so far. He's had dinner and fixed the cable, a full night! I am pretty tired and ready to chill out on the couch. I think once I fully slow down, I will be out like a light.
Thanks to everyone who helped out this past week and thanks to those who visited us. We are so blessed to have such dear family and friends. I would name all of you but I would hate if I missed someone in my sleep deprived state, so I will just say thanks again and we love you.
Please pray that the radiation shrinks the tumor on his rib and that it will alleviate the pain he is in. Please pray that he is able to get chemo on Thursday and that the side effects be minimal. Please pray for wisdom for the doctors and strength for our family.
Love and blessings,
Maria

Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord...
"But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint" Isaiah 40:31
